Beautiful Bermuda
Never would you imagine the magnificence that can be found within a small, 21-mile island! Of course, the breathtaking pink sand beaches are everywhere and the water as sparkling blue as a jewel, but that is only the beginning.
Bermuda truly has something for everyone from the world-famous golf courses to the Bermuda Aquarium Museum and Zoo. Snorkeling and scuba diving are unbeatable, with reefs, colorful fish, and sunken ships to explore. Deep below Bermuda's surface are prehistoric caverns known as the Crystal Caves, even more beautiful as they are reflected in the depths of the clear underground waters. Gaze at natural wonders untouched by man for over a million years.
Getting around the island is a breeze and part of the fun. The shopping is fabulous, the dining is superb, and there is no shortage of fine accommodations to fit every taste and budget. The people are warm and welcoming, and proud of their beautiful island. A traditional kiss beneath the Moongate assures that you will return to Bermuda many times, but you will want to anyway!

On Safari: Adventure of a Lifetime
The Stanley Wing Safari by Micato Safaris provided a magnificent journey through Kenya and Tanzania, abundant with wildlife throughout the diverse range of national parks and conservation areas. After seeing the highlights of Nairobi, our first stop on safari was at the Amboseli National Park viewing East Africa's largest population of elephants and Mount Kilimanjaro.
Over the next two weeks, the main attractions were touring the game drives in Ngorongoro Crater and the famous Serengeti National Park. While visiting the incredible Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya, the wildebeest and zebra migration was taking place, with hundreds of thousands of herds making their way south back to the Serengeti following the rains.
Our guide and driver were very knowledgeable and had an amazing ability to spot lion and cheetah hidden where there only appeared to be tall grass. The breadth and scope of The Stanley Wing Safari represented everything for which East Africa is famous—the magnificent scenery, breathtaking wildlife, the overall excitement and adventure of a lifetime.

The Best of Greece
Athens brought the world drama, history, poetry and philosophy. Once home to the world's most powerful and civilized empires, Athens is now the world's foremost archeological playground.
During this past July, our family traveled to Greece and discovered that it was the new Greece after the 2004 Summer Olympics! We stayed at the Grand Bretagne Luxury Hotel, a Virtuoso property, located at Constitution Square, which is within easy walking distance to Tavernas (restaurants), shopping, nightlife and Athens attractions, and offers a beautiful view of the Acropolis by day or night. A new addition to Athens is the metro, which is very accessible and clean and travels from the downtown area to the airport.
During our stay, we flew to the legendary island of Crete, the largest Greek island, and stayed at the Elounda Beach Hotel, a Virtuoso property. This luxury resort is located on 40-acre with two private beaches and marina, tennis courts, infinity pool and several open-air restaurants.
While touring the island, we visited the downtown village of Herkalion, located near by historical site of Knosso Palace, which dates back to 2000 BC. We also drove to the eastern side of the island to Samarian Gorge, called the "Grand Canyon of Europe" for a six-hour hike. For an easy day trip, Santorini, a beautiful volcanic island, can be reached by air or sea from Crete; as well as Mykonos for the beautiful beaches, hotels and villas.
Greece is highly recommended for everyone — the people were very friendly, and the country was safe and very beautiful! Please contact me with any questions regarding Greece and I'll be glad to assist you with your travel plans.

Journey to the Outback

During my recent 10-day adventure, I toured South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales and enjoyed every minute of it! Our great Virtuoso on-site, Southern World, managed every detail of the tour from the helicopter ride to the train and even climbing up the Sydney Bridge!
Kangaroo Island was my favorite location for spending time with wildlife in its natural habitat. It is so peaceful and yet invigorating at the same time—with sea lions and seals on the beach, fairy penguins at night, wallabies and kangaroos in the bush. Koalas were doing what they do best—sleeping in the trees overhead! The Kangaroo Island Lodge, Stranraer B&B and Lifetime Retreats are all great options for accommodations.

Ayers Rock is an experience of epic proportion and best describes the story of the aborigines at Uluru. Nature lovers and adventure travelers would find an abundance of activities in the Blue Mountains and wine regions, from countless bike and hiking paths to guided bushwalks. The Tower Lodge in the Hunter Valley and Lillianfels in the Blue Mountains are perfect locations to enjoy these lovely areas.
All over the country, the open attitude of the people made me feel welcome everywhere I went. It was fun to go so far from home and have no challenges with the language. Please feel to call me with any questions and I will be glad to help you plan your trip to Australia!

Peru review
Covington International Travel's President and CEO Josée Covington just returned from an amazing trip south of the border - Peru! “Mesmerizing!” is her summary of the experience. The entire country is full of interesting history and color, friendly people, and still very affordable. Mrs. Covington highly recommends that you consider this magical place for your next vacation.
She began her adventure in The City of Kings, Peru's capital city of Lima. A city of contrasts, it is the showcase of Peru. Founded in the 16th century by the Spanish conqueror Francisco Pizarro, today more than 8 million people call it home. Lima has fine museums, top quality restaurants, good shopping (especially jewelry and wools), and a friendly atmosphere.
The highlight of the city is the outstanding collection of Inca artifacts in the basement vault of the Museo de Oro del Peru, or Peruvian Gold Museum. As extensive as the gold collection is, it's astonishing to realize that these are merely crumbs—the Spanish melted down or looted the best pieces. Also visit the Museo de la Nacion (National Museum—tours available in English), one of the largest museums in South America. It includes a model of the gold-laden tombs recently excavated at Sipan and reproductions of some of Peru's best archaeological sites.
If you wish to explore the mystical land of the Inca, begin in Cusco, a 60-minute flight from Lima. A visit to this archaeological gem, nestled in the Andes at a heart-pounding 11,000 feet above sea level, is unforgettable.
Note: It is imperative that visitors take it easy the first day or two in Cuzco. The city's high altitude (11,000 ft/3,350 m) can cause soroche, or altitude sickness, in people who have just arrived (especially those who have flown from cities with lower altitudes).
Some of the most important sights in Cuzco include ancient Inca ruins, such as the Tampumachay ritual bath, the Kenko (amphitheater of sacrifices) and the fortresses of Pucara and Sacsayhuaman. A sun-worshipping ceremony takes place at these fortresses in June. Also visit the archaeological museum, which has an excellent display of Inca artifacts. But spend some time just walking around town, too: Now and then it feels like it's still ancient.
Interested in shopping in Cusco? Bargain alpaca wool sweaters, throws and beautiful watercolor prints of the area make great gifts to bring home.
One of the most mystifying places on Earth, the ruins of Machu Picchu are believed to have once been a secret ceremonial city of the Inca, who used this city, which is invisible from below and completely self-contained, for astronomic study. This visit to one of the marvels of the modern world will leave an indelible mark in your memory. At an elevation of 8,000 ft/2,450 m (much lower than nearby Cuzco), it has the most spectacular setting of any ruin in the world—even those who aren't normally excited by archaeology will be impressed. This Lost City of the Incas is a place everyone must see at least once.
To get to Machu Picchu, take the train from Cuzco (reservations recommended)—the ride itself is an adventure. It leaves Cuzco in the early morning, climbs switchbacks, descends into a valley and passes through Amerindian villages before reaching its destination. From the station, a bus crosses a boulder-strewn stream and takes visitors up 14 switchbacks to Hotel Machu Picchu (rooms must be booked months in advance), adjacent to the entrance. You can see the ruins on a day trip from Cuzco, but you'll miss the eerie, misty sunset and an even more magical sunrise over the ruins if you don't spend the night.
Peru is where pre-Columbian culture reached its most graceful peak. Like the Parthenon in Greece or the Pyramids of Egypt, the Inca and pre-Inca ruins of Peru provide an unforgettable glimpse of the genius of a lost world. Mrs. Covington says, "Put it on your "must see" list!"
