Karen & Koala Bear

Inspired from childhood by a world-hopping family member and having taken numerous cruises and visited 30 countries, Karen Kilyk is fulfilling a personal dream of her career in the travel industry.

Although she once considered a position in medicine, in 1996 she chose a career in travel instead.  Karen also regards travel as everyone’s personal wellness program.

Karen says, “We are all happier and more relaxed when we have a special vacation planned, even if it is six months away. We look forward to a time we will be out of our day-to-day life and into a dream location.

I approach trip planning as a match maker.  Listening carefully to my clients’ desires, needs and dreams and matching them with the perfect vacation plan is my personal challenge. It is so rewarding when everything comes together to make a special memory.

The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is the little extra and this is what I strive to deliver with every trip.  Personal contacts around the world make all the difference when personalizing a trip.”

Karen has enjoyed far-reaching travels to Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Spain, Ireland, Jamaica and the British Virgin Islands and all over Europe. As an Accredited Cruise Counselor (ACC), she has cruised with Azamara to Israel, Cyprus, Greece and Turkey; Celebrity to Australia, the Norwegian Fjords and Amsterdam; and Silversea to South America as well as several Caribbean cruises.  US destination highlights include New Mexico, Arizona, all Disney Theme Parks and Orlando’s Universal Studios.

Safari in Botswana

Bostwana, Xigera Camp in Okavango Delta

Karen is pictured during a cool morning at Xigera Camp in Okavango Delta.

In March, I visited and inspected five safari camps in Botswana operated by Wilderness Safari in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, one of the largest conservation areas in the world, and the unique Okavango Delta, a wondrous wetland in the middle of a desert.

Botswana is politically stable and one of the most prosperous countries in Africa. It is 45% conservancy and has outlawed hunting. Anyone caught shooting a rhino can get the death penalty. Botswana is known to safari connoisseurs as a remote and pristine wilderness with well-managed wildlife reserves. Wilderness Safari provided a perfect combination of secluded yet sophisticated lodging, expertly guided game viewing activities, and highly personalized service.

Karen in the Holy Land

As a specialist in faith-based travel, learn about Karen’s recent six-day adventure to the Holy Land in this special guest blog article.

“Pilgrimage meets sightseeing in the Holy Land with a different climate around every corner. On a recent trip to Israel in January, we were very fortunate to enjoy great weather despite the winter season.”

From an 11,000- year-old watchtower in Jericho to a modern day Kibbutz that is working and thriving on the Sea of Galilee, this ancient land has so much to offer the tourist and/or the pilgrim – Jewish, Muslim or Christian.” More details on the blog article.
