Smartphone vs. Wallet: Which would you miss the most?
by Jill Campbell
Have you ever arrived at work and realized you left your wallet at home by mistake? Would you be more upset if you forgot your smartphone instead?
In a recent survey conducted by RingCentral, an authority on mobile device use for business, 56% of those polled admitted it would be worse to leave your smartphone at home. What do you think? Take our poll to the left.
It has also become increasingly important not to forget your smartphone the next time you attend a large meeting or event. Within the meeting environment, smartphones have become an important tool in attendee communication and participation. These are just a few of the applications:
- Alerts, conference messaging and updates
- Audience polling
- Conference program and schedule
- Content distribution – replacement of paper session handouts, course notes and exhibit literature
- Evaluations of speakers, sessions, activities and overall conference services
- Exhibit guide with interactive floor plan
- Lead exchange
- Marketing and advertising of events and sub-events
- Social media networking and friend finding
- Mobile team building exercises
- Surveys
- Treasure hunts and other games to stimulate exhibit hall flow
In conclusion, whatever your role in the next meeting or business event, be it participant, presenter or managing director, don’t forget your smartphone or you may feel left out.
