Break a World Record on Princess Cruises Love Boat

Princess Cruises Love BoatThose of a “certain age” are sure to remember the popular comedy Love Boat set aboard Princess Cruises Pacific Princess. The series aired from 1977 to 1986 and week after week, Captain Stubing and his crew dealt with the romantic adventures and problems of the guests. Love Boat was synonymous with Princess Cruises and the show’s success was widely credited with the growth of vacation cruising in North America.

Although the show and the original ship are long gone, Princess Cruises still enjoys a legacy of romance.  This year, the line is setting the scene to break a Guinness World Record title for the largest multi-location vow renewal!

Originally, a vow renewal ceremony was planned on MedallionClass-ship Regal Princess during a seven-day Western Caribbean Valentine’s Day voyage sailing from Ft. Lauderdale February 9-16, 2020. Couples on Regal Princess will renew their vows in a ceremony officiated by Gavin MacLeod, who portrayed the endearing Captain Stubing, with his television daughter Vicki, Jill Whelan, serving as matron of honor.

The idea of a mass vow-renewal on a Love Boat over Valentine’s was in such demand, Princess Cruises added an additional sailing from the west coast. Royal Princess will sail February 10-15, 2020 on a five-day voyage from Los Angeles to Mexico, including an overnight stay in Cabo San Lucas, home of Lover’s Beach. Fittingly, the onboard ceremony aboard Royal Princess will be officiated by Trista and Ryan Sutter, the very first couple to marry from The Bachelorette, the most popular reality dating show in television history.

Trista and Ryan met and fell in love in 2002 when she was America’s first Bachelorette. They wed on December 3, 2003, drawing over 26 million viewers, making it one of the most-widely viewed episodes in all of reality television. The couple celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary serving as the godparents of Ruby Princess in 2008 and currently reside in Vail, Colo., with their two children Max and Blakesley.

To be part of breaking the Guinness World Record for mass vow renewal on Princess Cruises Love Boats

The mass renewal of vows ceremonies will take place simultaneously on February 11, 2020, with two official Guinness World Records Adjudicators on each ship to verify the record. Even if you don’t want to renew vows, a cruise is a wonderful way to reconnect with one another. Both sailings will have additional romantic touches and activities, so it’s the perfect way to celebrate Valentine’s Day in 2020.

At the time of publication, there are still cabins available on both sailings but don’t delay! Valentine’s and the chance to break a Guinness World Record is almost here. Contact your Covington vacation advisor today to reserve your Love Boat stateroom.
