Wonderful Vacation in Azores Portugal!

We spent a week on Sao Miguel, the largest island in the Azores. We saw sandy beaches, mountain tops, crater lakes, primordial forests, geothermal pools of bubbling gas, magnificent vistas of valleys and the Atlantic ocean. All of this was not far from quality dining and comfortable accommodations. The drive along winding hills provides beautiful views of endless landscapes with rocky cliffs, red tile roofs and green pastures of grazing cattle.

The two comfortable resorts we stayed offered a contrast to the environment. Santa Barbara Eco Beach had a beautiful sandy beach along the north shore, and Furnas Boutique Hotel was in a greener region with geothermal pools. The beautiful landscape and plenty of great restaurants made for a wonderful vacation.
