Airport Security: How to Get Through the Line Faster
Remember these simple tips to make your trip through airport security as speedy as possible.
1. Have your boarding passes and legal identification ready. These items should be in your
hand and ready to present as you make your way to the front of the security line.
2. Make sure liquids are correctly packed using 3-1-1. This means 3.4 ounce size liquid containers or less, 1 quart size clear plastic bag, 1 bag per person placed on top of your luggage. They should be neatly packed, clearly visible and placed in the security bin for easy viewing by the TSA.
3. Pack efficiently and layer clothing, electronics, and heavier items so the TSA officers can see what is in your bag. Secure cords for phones, iPods, etc. so the view is clear. Bags that are stuffed are more difficult to view easily through the security scanners and will result in a more thorough search.
4. Shoes, belts, phones, and pocket change should be in your hand ready to place in the bin for easy screening. Laptops should be out of the case and ready to place in a separate security bin.
5. Smile and be patient! Remember, the security screeners are tasked with helping to maintain a safe travel experience for all.
